Our relationships must grow and change with us. Sometimes we hit snags or get stuck…
Couples therapy and relationship therapy for units greater than two can be a resource in the unfolding path of your relationships.
I bring to my work with relationships extensive experience in trauma therapy, family therapy, feminist and depth psychotherapy, as well as training and ongoing consultation in the Developmental Model of relationship therapy. This model looks at relationships as undergoing lifelong development and growth. Stuck places or being at different points of personal development than our partners can exacerbate the full range of issues that bring people to couples/relationship therapy. Maybe you are navigating desire differences, communication difficulties, life stage preparations or adjustments, or any number of other challenges couples and relationship units face. Whatever is bringing you in, I would be honored to serve as a witness, guide, advisor when desired, and cheerleader for your relationship.
Below are some topics or relationship challenges where my training and experience can be of specific support:
Relationships where one or more partners is navigating mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, OCD or trauma or recent/impactful grief and loss;
Infertility and other delays or impediments to family building;
Adjusting to changes in family composition such as welcoming new children, becoming caretakers for aging parents, etc.
Challenges related to infidelity, differences in desire for sexual intimacy, opening up relationships or navigating non-monogamy.
