Trauma disrupts our natural inclination and ability to connect with others. And trauma can be healed.

Seeking the support of a therapist to heal from the impact of trauma is a courageous step. In therapy, I place an emphasis on respect, collaboration, and finding the right pace. Our work together may incorporate skills, resources, and education to manage day-to-day symptoms, working to understand and process memories and impact of traumatic experiences, and generating resiliency to live the life one wants to live.

While I believe trauma can be healed, there is no one right approach for everyone. Our work will include exploration of what your unique healing path is like, and I will support your choices. I draw from several different types of therapy to address trauma, and prioritize your expertise in your own healing to guide our work.

Many people who see me for therapy are interested in EMDR therapy to address the impact of trauma. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy. EMDR is a tool that works on multiple levels of awareness (how trauma impacts the body, feelings, and beliefs we hold onto) to process the memories, triggers, and thoughts about the future associated with distressing experiences and events.

To learn more about EMDR, you can visit EMDRIA and schedule time to speak with me for a consultation.
