CHILDREN, TEENS, AND FAMILIES

Navigating the rapid changes in childhood and adolescence is challenging for young people and their caregivers. When a child or teen is struggling, it can become a source of daily fear and stress for all parties.

I have worked with numerous young people from 5-18, including children and teens impacted by trauma, depression, anxiety, substance use, behavioral issues, self harm and suicidal thoughts, questioning identity, issues of sexuality and gender, autism spectrum disorder, and ADD/ADHD.

I use a variety of techniques based on strengths and needs of the child, teen, or family, to support in navigating this powerful and sometimes overwhelming time of life. Those include: play therapy, TF-CBT for those impacted by trauma, talk therapy, family therapy, communication skills and assertiveness skills, DBT skills coaching, and more.

The involvement of significant adults, family, and caregivers is often key to support young people in distress. I work closely with parents and caregivers to provide education, increase effective communication, and support families in learning skills to navigate difficult times together.
